What did we get up to in 2021?
Since we’ve had the go-ahead for events to take place again, it’s been all systems go at the Events Collective headquarters. Last Summer saw the launch of our newest venture Knot Tied Festival, a small boutique family festival situated on the outskirts of Sheffield. Knot Tied converged 25+ years of organising events across the country including weddings, music events and private parties. We then went straight into providing the main production and site set up for Festival On The Square in Tudor Square to great success.
In September we saw the emergence of Sheffield Harvest Fayre, which showcased local street food and artisan traders from in and around Sheffield. This event derived from the ever popular Sheffield Food Festival and featured some of our favourite local businesses. In November, Illuminate The Gardens returned with a bang, our biggest and best show yet.
So what’s in store for this year?
This year is looking like one of our busiest years to date. Our newest event coming to Sheffield City Centre is Vivacity, which takes place on 4th and 5th March in the Peace Gardens, Millennium Square and the Winter Gardens. Vivacity is a free to attend music concert, including illuminated visual effects lighting, kids activities, walkabout performances, street food and bar. Our event line up includes Papa Soul, The Beard Band, Jeremiah Ferrari, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners and Andy H. For more event information, follow Events Collective on Facebook and check out what else to expect.
Another newcomer, coming this Spring is Bloomin Marvellous on 7th and 8th May. Again, this event will take place in the Peace Gardens in Sheffield City Centre and is free to attend. Now if lockdown has taught us anything, it’s how to be self-proclaimed DIY and gardening experts. So why not learn and develop new tricks and tips to turn your home and garden into a front cover of a Country Living magazine? Expect artisan goods, build-your-own hanging baskets, seed swaps, talks and presentations from sustainable organisations within Sheffield who are actively connecting people to nature and improving biodiversity, plus lots more. Bloomin Marvellous will see the first outing of the year for our infamous Green Village. With a collaboration of green- fingered organisations presenting a host of activities, educational talks as well as ongoing and new projects in which the local community can get involved with.
In June, we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sheffield Food Festival. With nearly 100 street food and artisan traders from across South Yorkshire, this is an event not to be missed. Our Eats, Treats and Beats Village is back (with a twist) and this year will be merging with the festivals Chef Demo Tent and will host a plethora of well known musicians and chefs from across the City.
With the great success of last year, Knot Tied is back again this August. This year’s line up will have you searching for your wellies and glitter already. A splendour of house, funk, soul, reggae, ska, drum and bass, Knot Tied is definitely one for the diary… the perfect mix of lovely people, quality music and good vibes. This event is guaranteed to sell out in advance, therefore spread the love, buy a ticket from https://knottied.nuwebgroup.com/events/9081
Although we have a few more events in the pipeline, we are happy to announce the 5th year of Illuminate The Gardens will be returning to Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens. Despite seeing the rise of immersive walkaround light shows, Illuminate The Gardens continues to stay ahead of the game. Each year is a different theme, we’ve been ‘Out Of Space’ to the ‘Deep Blue Sea’ however this year we’ll be taking you on ‘A Journey Through Evolution’. With low bangs fireworks display for the little ones to the extravagant light show followed by a main fireworks display. Illuminate The Gardens is the go-to firework event in South Yorkshire.
