OUR HISTORY

The Events Collective is the brainchild of Bob Worm, who has worked with a team of people from Sheffield and Manchester for many years.  Bob and his team have been producing events in the South Yorkshire area for over 15 years.  The teams experience covers both commercial and community events.  The first events Bob produced were live concerts and all night club events at the Arches Nightclub in Sheffield in 1994.  The first festival performance event to be produced was The Dance Tent at the Music in The Sun Festival in 1996. This was followed by a wide variety of events ranging from pub gigs for bands and festival stages, to skills shows and conferences for voluntary groups, all from the base of operation formed in 1996 called the Collective, which included rehearsal facilities for bands, and studios for design artists.

In 1999 Bob undertook a 6 month contract with Gatecrasher Events to plan and deliver various roles and services for two main events, one of which was the 30,000 capacity Millennium event at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield on NYE 1999.  In January of the following year, Bob started a 2 year full time contract as Events Coordinator for the Nonstop Foundation.

During his time with Green City Action, Bob Worm has worked closely with members of the community to plan, organise and deliver shows and projects for the Burngreave area.  Local people have lent their support in the following areas:

·         Volunteers before and on the day of the events

·         Steering groups for local input

·         As performers / artists

·         Stall holders / exhibitors

·         Attendees

The aim of the events was to provide an opportunity for the community of Burngreave to gather and meet in a harmonious environment, where people can share food, experience art and culture, learn new skills and crafts, and celebrate the wonderful and diverse community in which they live.
